Characterization of building materials, including corn and sunflower agrogranulates

Vegetal concretes and lightened clay mortars with corn and sunflower aggregates are characterized in the laboratory. Two entities are mainly involved in this work, the LMDC laboratory (Tarbes) and the GICITED research group (Barcelona) through collaborating laboratories. Thanks to the complementary skills of these two research teams, several properties of the compounds are being explored:

  • Thermal insulation performance
  • Mechanical properties
  • Moisture regulation capacity
  • Acoustic properties
  • Fire behavior, etc.

A pith-based insulating board manufacturing campaign is also underway.
