The SAVASCO project attends the FESC 2021 Catalonia Solidarity Economy Fair

On October 23 and 24, 2021, the 10th edition of the Catalonia Solidarity Economy Fair (FESC) was held in the grounds of the old Fabra y Coats factory located in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of the city of Barcelona. In it, multiple projects and initiatives that work to promote a fairer and more solidary economy, intercooperation, social impact and climate justice have been presented.

ARQBAG SCCL, one of the partners of the SAVASCO project consortium has participated as an exhibitor to share and explain the projects in which they are working to achieve an architecture with low environmental impact focused on responding to people’s needs and guaranteeing the transfer of knowledge, through the building construction, the study of materials, energy and health.

In this context, the European project Interreg SAVASCO, co-financed by the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF), was explained with the aim of bringing to the public the research work that is being developed for the reuse of waste from the agricultural sector in the construction, from the point of view of a circular economy, as potential strategies and responses also to the urgent decarbonisation needs of the sector.

The visitors were able to interact with some of the samples from the material tests carried out in the laboratories of the Barcelona School of Building Construction (EPSEB), collaborators of the GICITED research group of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), and were able to comparing them with other materials and products already on the market, as well as knowing the status of the project, the constellation of agents involved and it served as an invitation to follow the progress and its evolution.

This presence at FESC2021 has made it possible to promote the project’s visibility and, at the same time, explore possible and potential synergies to articulate a network of agents from the sectors involved, which is one of the aims of the project.
